The update was previously slated for the end of June

Verizon customers who own the HTC Rezound are probably disappointed by the fact that the Taiwanese handset maker has yet to push the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Although HTC confirmed about three weeks ago that the update would arrive in June/July, we did not expect it to be pushed to late July.

According to an email published by the folks over at Droid-Life, HTC Rezound will be released by the end of this month.

Thank you for contacting HTC regarding the Android 4.0 update. I understand that you are excited to receive the update for your HTC Rezound. I will be happy to share the information I have with you. The ICS (Android 4.0) update will be released for the Rezound by the end of this month (July) with final pushes in August.”

The weird thing is that HTC announced in late June that the update had already been approved, which is why we expected Android 4.0 ICS to come in early July.

However, it appears that the handset maker was forced to delay the release of the hotly anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich update for about a month.

We don’t have any information on the reasons behind this delay, but we suspect HTC and Verizon found one or more bugs that could not be addressed in such a short time.

Due to localization, testing, and partner approvals, updates do not roll out to all devices at the same time. For devices on a wide variety of carriers and in many countries, rollouts can take up to 45 days from the initial update to reach everyone.”

For the time being, there is no word on the exact release date of the Android 4.0 ICS upgrade, but we expect more details to emerge in the following weeks. Stay tuned for more information on the subject.
