HTC has quietly released the long-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Desire S.

However, the update is not available OTA (over the air) as usual, instead HTC Desire S owners will have to manually download the file and flash it on their smartphones.

The update file has been recently uploaded by HTC to its support servers and it’s about 404 MB in size.

It appears that there are two Android 4.0 ICS update files available for download, one for Chinese language and another one for English.

There are no carrier-specific updates for the moment, so we must assume that these will be announced by operators in due time.

Before flashing the update, we recommend HTC Desire S owners to back up all their personal information in order to avoid losing sensitive data. Check out the update file here.
