Android-x86, the famous port of Google's famous Android platform for the x86 (32-bit) architecture has just reached version 4.0.

Android-x86 is a Live CD Linux distribution created mostly for the Eee PC netbooks, but can also run on any other 32-bit (x86) platform.

Android-x86 4.0 is based on Android 4.0.1 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and includes OpenGL ES hardware acceleration for AMD Radeon chipsets, support for multitouch and Wi-Fi support.

Android-x86 4.0 is still in development, therefore things like audio, webcam, Ethernet or hardware acceleration for the Intel platform were not yet implemented.

The Android-x86 project was tested on many netbooks, including ASUS Eee PCs and laptops, Viewsonic Viewpad 10, Dell Inspiron Mini Duo, Samsung Q1U, Viliv S5 or Lenovo ThinkPad x61 Tablet.

Download Android-x86 4.0 right now from Softpedia. Ths ISO image is only available for the AMD Brazos platform, such as MSI 110W.

When will we be able to get a simple bit of software that will enable us to use ATI Radeon video card HD5650 on HDMI with OSs other than Windows into our TVs?

The best thing you can do is donate to driver coders/reverse engineers. Also send in complaints/feature requests to ATI. If everyone would do this that I see complain in forums, ATI/AMD would be forced to listen. Its only a matter of time before they are all forced to make linux drivers for every card they manufacture but the process will be faster, I think, if we all complain to the manufacturer.
