Canadian operator Bell announced a few months ago that it would offer an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Incredible S, but the carrier backtracked a few weeks later and said that HTC did not plan to upgrade that smartphone to Android 4.0 ICS.

However, the Taiwanese company has kept its promise and released an Android 4.0 ICS update for HTC Incredible S.

However, the file is not available OTA (over the air), instead users will have to manually download it via HTC Developer Site.

The update is packed in the form of a RUU file and can be installed on Incredible S devices that are running Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform. For more details on how to install this major update head over to XDA Developers.

Keep in mind that this Android 4.0.4 ICS update will also upgrade the HTC Sense UI to version 3.6. However, users who updated report a decrease in performance due to the phone’s low hardware configuration.
