Yesterday, Motorola Mobility started to deliver an OS upgrade to its Motorola XOOM tablet PC, and specific details on what the update includes are now available.

The software is reportedly weighing 81.9MB and will bring the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system flavor on devices. It is being delivered only to WiFi models at the moment.

The software update is brought over the air, and users should receive a notification on their devices when it is available for them as well.

Motorola XOOM users are also able to perform manual checks to see whether they can download the new OS upgrade. To do so, they should go to Settings > About tablet > Software Updates > Check now.

However, it should be noted that the update is being rolled out in phases, which means that not all users will receive it right away.

Some of the main enhancements that the new software update brings on XOOM WiFi include faster browser, along with the ability to swipe to dismiss notifications, or improved text input and spell checking.

The changelog for the new software update, available over at Androidos.in, also shows:

- Redesigned app launcher: In All Apps launcher, you can now simply drag an app to get information about it, immediately uninstall it, or disable a pre-installed app.

- New System Font for Improved Readability: An entirely new typeface (called Roboto) optimized for high resolution screens improves readability and brings a polished feel to the user interface.

- Updated “People” Application: Replaces contacts and integrates seamlessly with Google+ and other social networks.

- Type with your voice: Now you can simply touch the microphone on the keyboard and start talking to write emails, SMS, or any other text—more than 20 languages supported. Text appears in real time, so there’s no waiting for server processing.

- Redesigned Gallery app with photo editor: To help pictures look their best, the Gallery now offers a powerful photo editor so you can crop and rotate pictures, set levels, remove red eyes, add effects, and much more. Richer, resizable widgets. You can expand widgets to show more content, or shrink them to save space.

The new update also brings better imaging capabilities to Motorola XOOM devices. Users will be able to snap photos while shooting videos, and will also have the option to launch the camera from the lock screen.
