Sprint’s Nexus S 4G handset did not get the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich platform when the GSM version of the device did, but an unofficial build is now available for it as well.

The Ice Cream Sandwich update was ported from OTA update that landed on the Nexus S over at T-Mobile, an Android Central forum user explains.

There will be no 4G (WiMAX) connectivity available for Sprint’s users, but other features of the device are working great, it seems.

Sprint’s Nexus S 4G users will have 3G data, the camera, and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity up and running on their devices as soon as the Android 4.0.3 ROM is installed.

The major drawback, of course, is the fact that you will have to root the smartphone to install the new OS. The ROM can be flashed using Clockwork. You should visit the said forum to download the file.
