Samsung has just announced that the Android 2.3 software upgrade for the original Galaxy Tab is now available for download in South Korea.

The handset maker released the said upgrade for all Korean Galaxy Tabs, including those branded by SK Telecom, KT and LG U+ carriers.

Those who wish to upgrade their Galaxy Tab devices should download the latest version of Kies, as the update is only available via Samsung's synch software.

In addition, Samsung stated that the same Android 2.3 software upgrade will be available for Galaxy A and Galaxy Ace smartphones later on.

Currently, Android 2.3 for Galaxy Tab has already been confirmed in Australia via Vodafone, who also plans to roll out the firmware upgrade for Samsung's Galaxy S smartphone.

In this regard, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread promises solid enhancements in comparison with older 2.1 and 2.2 versions of the mobile platform.

The standard on-screen keyboard has been greatly improved with faster input and more intuitive typing, while the cut & paste feature has been enhanced.

The user interface has been improved, enabling faster access and control and a more intuitive user experience. Users will also benefit from improved copy/paste functionality.

Application and power management has been improved as well, as Gingerbread now provides better insight into apps running in the background, and how much memory and CPU time they are using.

Also, multimedia content now has a lower CPU consumption rate, while support for more powerful 3D Graphics enables an enhanced mobile gaming experience.

On related news, Samsung officially stated that Android 2.3 upgrade will start with Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab in the UK and Nordic countries from mid-May, and will be gradually rolled out to other European markets, North America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia, Africa and rest of the world according to the regional plan.
