LG confirmed last month that some of its high-end smartphones in the Optimus family will receive the Gingerbread upgrade, namely the LG Optimus 2X, 3D and Black.

However, the Korean handset maker mentioned that only European models will receive the long-awaited update in November, an that the exact timing of the upgrades in other markets will be announced in due time.

The company announced its schedule for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update, which is expected to start on November 1 for the Optimus 2X, in the week commencing November 21 for the Optimus 3D, while in the week commencing November 28 for the Optimus Black.

The Indian branch of LG tweeted the information, but has yet to announce an exact release date: “The Android2.3 Gingerbread upgrade for Optimus2X P990 will be out by the end of this month!” On related news, LG is now preparing for the next step, which is bringing the Optimus 3D software version to Android 2.3.

In this regard the company went official a few days ago and stated that the update will be in fact an “Advanced” version of Gingerbread.

Among the improvements of the “Advanced” Gingerbread update, LG mentioned:

- Enhanced HSPA+ Speed via Faster Packet Data Services (up to 21Mbps HSDPA); - Improved Multimedia with 2D Video Stabilization and Faster Gallery Activation; - Enriched 3D Experience with 3D Video Editor and Full-screen UI Preview. More improvements will be added to the Optimus 3D with this enhanced version of Gingerbread, which will be announced in due time.
