Owners of a Nexus S 4G smartphone on Sprint's airwaves have now the possibility to download and install a new OS flavor on their devices, namely Android 2.3.5. Sprint did not make an official announcement on the availability of this OS upgrade for its users, but the software is already available for download for all those who would like to give it a try.

The update was expected to land on devices ever since July 11th, but it seems that it was actually pushed back.

Last week, Sprint announced plans to deploy a software update on its Nexus S 4G devices, but said that it was only a maintenance update.

The wireless carrier has announced that the new software update should bring a series of enhancements to the connectivity capabilities of Nexus S 4G.

The OS upgrade is now available for download from Google's servers, and sports the said Android 2.3.5 OS flavor, along with a series of other enhancements.

Sprint is expected to deliver the update to all Nexus S 4G users in the next few weeks, but those who do not like to wait for it can hit the download link and give it an early try.

“Nexus S 4G is getting a software update designed to improve 4G data speeds for users and provide several other updates. The release will begin rolling out to Nexus S 4G handsets on Monday, July 25. All users should receive the update in the next three weeks,” Sprint said last week.

“These enhancements should increase 4G data speeds and signal strength for users. The software update also improves Wi-Fi connectivity, speakerphone audio quality and adds TTY support for the deaf and hard of hearing,” the wireless carrier announced at that time.

Those who do not want to perform a manual install should simply wait for Sprint to push the new software to their devices.
