The new software update lacks some long expected features

A new software update is now available for download for the owners of a Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone in the Netherlands, the South Korean mobile phone maker has just announced.

The new update will bring the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system flavor on the handset, while also providing users with an updated experience.

This is the same new firmware that Samsung has started to roll-out to its users in the Nordic European countries, which emerged into the wild since last week.

Samsung Netherlands already made an official announcement on this OS upgrade's availability, via its Twitter account.

“Vanaf nu beschikbaar de nieuwe firmware update voor de Samsung Galaxy S2, naar versie 2.3.4,” the said tweet reads, which roughly translates to: “The new firmware update to version 2.3.4 for the Samsung Galaxy S2 now available.”

The new update should be pushed to all Galaxy S II users in the Netherlands soon, as well as to the owners of this smartphone in other countries around the world.

Most of the improvements included with it were related only to the new platform release, and those who already downloaded and installed it on their devices report that only few visible changes were included into the mix.

The one thing that is missing from the mix, and which might make a lot of users unhappy, is the Google talk for Android with video-chatting capability, even if the software was present in some of the previously leaked Android 2.3.4 ROMs for the mobile phone.

Most probably, the feature will be included with the next official OS upgrade from Samsung, which might be the Android 2.3.5 version, or the newer Android 2.3.7 OS flavor, which already started to be pushed out to devices.

With over 10 million Galaxy S II units sold all around the world, it won't come as a surprise if Samsung decides to deliver a new firmware update to its users in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, users in the Netherlands can download and install the new OS flavor on their Galaxy S II devices via the company's Samsung Kies application, available for download from Softpedia too, via this link.
