Android 2.3.4, the latest flavor of Google's mobile operating system, is currently pushed out on HTC Sensation 4G smartphones on T-Mobile USA's network.

The new software update has started to arrive on devices on Thursday, August 18th, and is being delivered over the air to the carrier's customers.

The company aims at delivering the update to all of its HTC Sensation 4G owners in the following weeks, provided that no issues with the software emerge in the meantime.

“Beginning August 18, the HTC Sensation 4G will receive a software update to Android 2.3.4, which improves performance and stability. The update will continue over the following weeks and not be complete until late September,” the wireless carrier explains on its support forums.

The Android 2.3.4 OS upgrade will be delivered to devices as software version 1.45.531.1, and brings along a nice range of features and improvements.

The release notes for the new firmware for HTC Sensation 4G show:

New Features

Software stability Improved battery life

Improvements

Improvements to Trace dictionary Improvements to screen responsiveness Improvements to video playback Improvements regarding device reboot / power off Improvements to icon pixilation Improvements to Wi-Fi connection Improvements to screen/photo resolution

As stated above, the new software will be delivered to users over the air, and they should receive a notification on its availability. As soon as that happens, they would simply have to hit Download, and then install when the download finishes.

However, they are also able to perform manual checks to see whether the software was release for their devices or not. For that, they would need to go to Menu > About phone > HTC software updates > Check.

If the software appears as available, users will need to follow the on-screen prompts to install the new OS flavor. The handset will restart as soon as the process was completed.
