The owners of a Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate 3G+ smartphone on the airwaves of TELUS have now the possibility to download and install a new mobile operating system flavor on their devices, namely Android 2.3.3. The mobile phone carrier has just announced the availability of the new OS flavor for the handset at posted all the necessary details on how users can upgrade their devices.

“As of August 2011, a new firmware version is available for the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate 3G+. Before you update your smartphone, you need to know your current firmware version,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

To learn the OS version the mobile phone is currently running under, users will need to go to Applications from the Home screen, then hit Settings and select About phone.

Provided that the software version on the mobile phone is 2.3.3 and the build number is GINGERBREAD.LKF9, the update won't be necessary.

To update their smartphones to the new platform version, Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate 3G+ on TELUS' airwaves will need to connect them to a desktop computer on which the Samsung Kies application needs to be installed.

Prior to kicking off the update process, users would have to make sure that the handset has a charged battery inside, and that the device was properly connected to the computer via a USB cable.

During the installation process, users won't be able to place or receive calls. They should not turn the phone off either.

It is also recommended that they perform a backup of all files on the smartphone before launching the update process, so as to make sure that no important info is lost during the installation of Android 2.3.3.
