Mobile phone carrier AT&T is set to upgrade yet another smartphone on its airwaves to a newer operating system version than the one currently available on the device, namely the HTC Aria, and it has just announced that the software update would be released for end-users as soon as today, February 25th.

The wireless carrier said a few days ago that the Android 2.2 Froyo update for Aria was coming soon, though no one expected it to land so quickly.

Aria is the second Android-based smartphone on AT&T's network to receive the Android 2.2 Froyo update this week, following the release of this software solution for the carrier's Samsung Captivate starting with Thursday, February 24th.

“Alright HTC Aria lovers, we said the Android 2.2 update was coming soon--and we meant it! Check back on the page tomorrow for a link to learn how to download the update,” the wireless carrier announce on its Facebook page on Thursday.

“Dante Martin, our Android Senior Project Manager, is back in the video below with more details on what 2.2 entails and what's coming for Androids on AT&T,” the post continues. You can have a look at the aforementioned video below.

The Android 2.2 Froyo platform was announced in summer last year, and was promised for a series of mobile phones, including AT&T's HTC Aria or the aforementioned Samsung Captivate, ever since that time.

However, its release was pushed back a few times before, even if many of the handsets outside the United States did receive it.

Starting today, HTC Aria owners on AT&T's airwaves would also have the opportunity to enjoy the newer OS version on their mobile phones.

However, specific info on the roll-out was not released into the wild until now, and we should wait for the wireless carrier to make this move to learn more on the matter.
