One of the few Galaxy S smartphones left without the Android 2.2 Froyo upgrade, the Samsung Vibrant seems to be in the middle of an outburst of protests from T-Mobile customers who own the device.

After numerous delays of the said upgrade, rumors about the manufacturer not allowing T-Mobile to push the Android 2.2 Froyo to Vibrant owners have started to spread.

Even though the upgrade is ready for deployment for quite some time, it seems Samsung feels that pushing the Froyo software update to Vibrant users will decrease the value of the upcoming Vibrant 4G +.

In this regard, the guys over AndroidSpin are reporting that a tipster, who is to be considered a reliable source, has admitted that the rumors are true and that Samsung is not allowing the carrier to push the long-awaited Android 2.2 Froyo upgrade until the Vibrant 4G+ is officially launched. Some disturbing things have happened the last week or so concerning our "Vibrant". Samsung has NOT allowed us to push the update OTA for 2.2 because they feel it will decrease the value of the upcoming Vibrant4G +. While from a marketing aspect i totally understand, as the Vibrant 4G is what the original Vibrant should have been in the 1st place. But to shun off and bold face lie to customers is NOT what T-Mobile is about.”

“...Being that, Vibrant 4G and Vibrant have exactly same stats, added FFC and a new movie and the 4G. But i will tell you this, the original vibrant CAN utilize 4G FULLY. Yes FULLY. not what they are telling you.”

Apparently, both devices are quite the same when it comes to specs, minus the front facing camera, which seems to be the main reason that Samsung Vibrant hasn't been upgraded to Froyo yet.
