South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has announced several days ago that the long-awaited Android 2.2 operating system flavor is now available for all of its Galaxy S users in the UK, regardless their wireless carrier.

The roll-out of this software update started a few months ago, and was delayed a few times, mainly by wireless services providers.

However, now all of them offer the solution to those eager Galaxy S users interested in getting more from their devices than before.

“We have some good news for the festive season; 2.2 is now available for the Galaxy S on all networks,” the mobile phone maker announced officially via Twitter.

As stated above, the deployment of this update started a few months ago, and the unlocked Galaxy S devices on the UK market were those to receive it first.

Carrier branded handsets had to wait a little longer before getting a taste of the new solution, as operators tried to customize the solution for their customers.

All of the necessary details on this software update are available on the company's support website, here.

As of December 24th, the user manual available for download on Samsung's support website was updated too, now with all the necessary details regarding the new Android 2.2 Froyo operating system version.

The platform upgrade for Galaxy S devices is available for download via the Samsung Kies application, specifically created for this action. The application can be downloaded from Softpedia too, via this link.

“By using the Software Update on Kies, you will be able to ensure your phone is running on the fastest, most stable and feature rich software available. Check for new updates regularly to make sure your phone is running the latest software available,” Samsung notes on its website.
