Xtreamer has managed to come up with some pretty exciting multimedia products over the past couple of years, and now, it seems that they're getting ready for yet another very interesting release, namely that of the Xtreamer PVR.

Spotted by the guys over at Tweakers within one of Xtreamer's promotional documents from CeBIT 2011 (available here), the PVR offers quite a few interesting features but, without a doubt, its main selling point is represented by the fact that it runs the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, which is really something noteworthy, especially since there are very few (if any) other similar products out there.

Apparently, the Sigma Designs SMP8656 chipset powering the new Xtreamer PVR provides enough computing horsepower in order to support Android, especially when coupled with the 512MB of built-in RAM memory, as well as the 256MB of Flash memory.

The PVR supports a wide array of video and audio formats, both for playback and recording, and since we've reached this particular topic, we'll also have to point out that all of the recorded video is saved within the Xtreamer PVR's 3.5-inch SATA HDD (that, nevertheless, users will have to add themselves).

Naturally, the device also comes packed with a huge number of connectivity options, from USB 3.0 and HDMI 1.3 to eSATA, Ethernet and Wireless-N (the latter available by adding a suitable dongle).

Last, but certainly not least, we'll also have to mention that the PVR offers a full-fledged web-browser, supports various services available via Android Apps, and also supports Windows Share functions, for easier access of content stored within a certain network.

Unfortunately, the Xtreamer PVR is simply listed as “Coming Soon”, so, for the time being, there's really no word on the exact moment when this very interesting device will ultimately make it to the market.
