It has been a long wait for Galaxy S users in the United States looking to upgrade their devices to Android 2.2 Froyo, but it might all come to an end in a matter of days, as the South Korean handset vendor is reportedly gearing up for the release of this software for some of them as soon as January 10th.

To be more precise, we're referring there to the Samsung Fascinate, Verizon Wireless' flavor of Galaxy S, which is said to be tasting the software within the next few days.

It's a common fact that Samsung has delayed the release of this update a few times before, but it seems that it might have finally hit the final stage with preparations for its deployment.

Moreover, rumor has it that Samsung Continuum would also be on the upgrade list, and that Android 2.2 Froyo would arrive on it starting with January 18th, a recent article on Android Central reads.

Provided that Samsung would indeed be on the verge of releasing the software update for Verizon's Galaxy S devices, we should expect for other Galaxy S models in the United States to start receiving the upgrade too in the near future.

A few days ago, Samsung confirmed via Twitter that it was hard at work with the development of this software, and that it plans on starting the roll-out as soon as possible.

However, no specific release date was unveiled officially and, based on numerous delays the Froyo update for Galaxy S had in the past, we tend to take the new report with a grain of salt.

However, we're keep our fingers crossed for the update to be released sooner rather than later, especially since it should bring forth a nice range of enhancements on all devices, including support for Adobe Flash 10.1, faster performance levels, better Internet browsing, and more.

Unless, of course, Samsung plans on jumping straight to the new Android 2.3 OS flavor for Galaxy S devices in the US, which is highly unlikely to happen so soon, especially since no older handset has seen an update to it as of yet.
