Announced officially sometime during summer, the Android 2.2 Froyo software update for the high-end Samsung Galaxy S was pushed back a few times before, but is now available for most of the handsets out there.

Made available for unlocked mobile phones a few months ago, the Android 2.2 OS upgrade is now rolling out on the airwaves of operators around the world as well.

Wireless services provider Vodafone Australia is among the latest carriers in the world to announce the availability of the software solution for their Galaxy S devices.

The company has just announced via twitter that its Galaxy S owners have now the possibility to download and install the software update via the Samsung Kies desktop software.

Here's what the said twitter announcement reads: “The Samsung Galaxy 2.2 #Android update is now available through KIES.”

Moreover, a recent article on Android Australia notes that the software update was made available for Galaxy S units brought from Crazy John's as well.

More reasons to rejoice for Australia owners of one of these flagship devices, since the Android 2.2 OS upgrade comes with a nice load of appealing features that would enhance the experience received by all users.

It's a common fact that the software update would bring support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 on Galaxy S, which should result in an much better Internet browsing experience.

Moreover, the update would bring performance improvements on the device, making it much faster than it was when running under Android 2.1.
