Not long ago, model Andrej Pejic made international headlines when he was named the latest face of Marc Jacobs. In a move that probably comes as no surprise, he just made his debut at Paris Fashion Week – as Jean Paul Gaultier’s bride.
Pejic is no ordinary male model. In fact, as we
also noted a short while back, he’s the exact opposite of what one may expect from a male model.
The 19-year-old stunner has long blonde hair and features that models back in the ‘90s made famous. Female models, that is, like Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford.
Andrej is an example of what is known as the “femiman” current in fashion, a trend that favors gender-bending faces and bodies – which also explains why he’s been Gaultier’s bride.
And quite a breathtaking, gorgeous bride he made, as
Styleite also notes.
“In a twist that we probably should have seen coming, Andrej Pejic walked as Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture bride today,” the e-zine says.
He’s not just a pretty face, he also has a great body, which is just perfect for modeling. Proof of that is the sheer creation he rocked on the catwalk the other day.
“We’re not quite sure if Pejic’s body naturally looks like this or if it’s the work of a girdle of sorts, but he has hips! And a waist! He also appears to lack any sort of body hair,” Styleite writes.
“Pejic donned a semi-sheer off-the-shoulder ivory gown with long leather gloves, part of a collection that drew heavily on English punk ‘tude and French can-can sass,” the e-zine further notes.
Andrej was just perfect for the show, which boasted a whole lot of unconventionality and breaking of rules, like is to be expected of a Gaultier show.
“A professional can-can dancer even walked (well, kicked) down the runway in a dress that had legs printed on the inside of the skirt,” Styleite says.
“The whole show felt lively (the colors! the textures!) and decadent (one model walked with a lit cigarette in hand) and oh-so-couture appropriate,” notes the e-zine.
