A student slain in a police shootout after being held hostage by an intruder has been mentioned in the commencement address at Hofstra University.

Meanwhile, sources say that 21-year-old Andrea Rebello was killed by police officers, and not by the suspect.

As I have mentioned, the 21-year-old student from Tarrytown was at home with two other women and a man when a man broke in and hold them at gun point.

Her twin sister managed to break free and call 911 and a standoff ensued, during which Rebello was killed.

While a neighbor reportedly heard her beg for mercy from the armed intruder before being shot, reports say that she was mistakenly killed by police.

According to the Inquisitr, she has been remembered during this Sunday's ceremony at Hofstra, in front of roughly 700 students.

“Love the life you live. Live the life you love” was one of her favorite quotes, the school president said.
