Team Goeleven Kawasaki rider Andrea Antonelli died during the World Supersport Championship race at the Moscow Raceway on Sunday, July 21.

Antonelli had been riding for Kawasaki Go Eleven and he was on a ZX-6R bike, doing 250 kph (155 mph) when the fatal crash occurred.

The 25-year-old Italian driver lost his life when he veered off the track during the first lap, on rainy weather.

According to the Daily Mail, a World Superbike rep informed that he collided with the Honda driven by Lorenzo Zanetti.

He incurred head trauma and he was transported to the medical center on the course. However, he did not regain consciousness and transporting him to a hospital would have involved fatal risks.

“Despite their efforts, Andrea sadly succumbed to his injuries at 2.10pm local time,” organizers said in a statement.
