The AndEX Live DVD that we introduced to you a few weeks ago has been updated today with new features, such as the latest Linux 4.0 kernel.

Arne Exton, the developer of several interesting distributions of GNU/Linux, as well as Android-x86 flavors, has had the pleasure of informing Softpedia about the immediate availability of a new update for his AndEX Live DVD that lets users run Android Lollipop 5.0.2 on their PCs.

Dubbed Absolute Ultimate Edition, the new AndEX Lollipop Live DVD build includes Arne Exton's special kernel 4.0.0-exton-android-x86 that contains some extra features, such as additional drivers and read/write support for NTFS filesystems.

"I've made a new version of AndEX (Lollipop 5.0.2) today," says Arne Exton in an email to Softpedia. "Most important is that AndEX now uses kernel 4.0.0-exton-android-x86. Also, while running the system live or from hard drive/USB stick, you won't get any type of error messages. Everything just works!"

AndEX Live DVD comes with GAPPS pre-installed

Another interesting feature of the AndEX Live DVD is that it comes with GAPPS (Google Apps) pre-installed, which means that you will be able to use all of Google's popular applications, including Google Play Store, Google Maps, Google+, and YouTube. Arne Exton instructs users to use the Google Play store to install apps when running AndEX.

In addition to the Google Play Store, the Aptoide App Manager package manager is pre-installed if you want to install Android apps that are not available in Google's store. The AndEX Live DVD can be easily installed on a USB flash drive and reused whenever you want without losing any date thanks to the built-in persistence mode. AndEX costs $9 (€8) and can be purchased as an ISO image from PayLoadz.
