With the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics only two months ahead, Mayhem Studio, a Spanish game developer released a new mobile game that focuses its action on the well-known event that takes place every two years.

Although first announced in March, the game only recently got the chance to be released worldwide. Called "Ancient Olympic Games", the new development of Mayhem Studio takes players back in time for the original Olympic Games that were held right in Olympia, Greece. Therefore, you will have to compete in ancient sceneries, among old Greek buildings.

The new game has two playing modes, Tournament and Training. In the Tournament mode, players must prove their best in all the Olympic competitions, while in Training mode you can play in only one contest. Choose between swimming, athletics, fencing, hammer throwing or all the other summer sports and try to beat all the Olympic records.

The game is compatible with lots of handsets from the following manufacturers: Nokia, Sony-Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola, LG, Alcatel, Siemens, Sagem, Sharp and Philips. The only condition is for the phones to support J2ME MIDP2.

Mayhem Studio says that an updated version of the game will be released soon, allowing users to play against friends, via Bluetooth, for more fun and a plus of interactivity.

For users who are interested in the new Ancient Olympic Games, Mayhem Studio prepared a short video trailer. There's no sound to it, but the sporty guys who appear there run like they've learned to do it from a comedy actor, so it's worth seeing the video (at least because it's a funny one).

All in all, Ancient Olympic Games seems to be quite nice, so if playing around with semi-naked men is all you've ever wanted, then this new game is just for you.
