Anchor's Toilet Report Aired Over Bush's Speech

CNN had to apologize for 'audio difficulties'

Kyra Phillips, an anchorwoman for CNN's 'Live From', was left red-faced and completely embarrassed after a discussion she and another woman had in the ladies' room went live on air, disrupting President Bush's speech.

Mr. Bush was delivering his speech marking the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and Phillips attended it as a reporter from CNN. She was supposed to cover and comment the President's speech and all went well until she took a bathroom break and did not notice that her microphone was still on.

She went into the ladies' room and struck a conversation with an unidentified woman and people got to hear almost everything that the two spoke. For the first couple of seconds, the sound was a bit muffled so nobody could hear exactly what was said. But then, Phillips said (very distinctly) that all men are bad, using a vulgar term to describe them ('asshole').

But the anchorwoman considers herself very lucky in this regard, as she had the chance to come across a very good and loving husband. 'My husband is handsome and he is genuinely a loving - you know, no ego - you know what I'm saying? Just a really passionate, great, great human being. And they exist. They do exist. They're hard to find. But they are out there', said Phillips, talking over the transmission of Bush's commemorative speech.

The reporter then went on to say that she feels the need to be protective of her brother because his wife is just 'a control freak'. Somebody noticed that everything that the two ladies said in the bathroom was being aired live and went in and warned the unsuspecting reporter.

CNN was forced to make a public apology to the viewers and to the White House, claiming that the interruption was due to, quote, 'a technical malfunction with the audio board. We're addressing how this happened and why it was not more promptly corrected on air'.
