It's fairly possible for handhelds, but not so likely for the Wii and PS2

Sometimes, when analysts make surprising predictions, there is still reason to believe them as they have a good reputation. Well, not all of them have a good history of predictions and while we're not saying that Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey does or doesn't have a good track of forecasts, here's what he claims, according to CVG: that Take-Two's BioShock is coming to Wii, PS2, PS3 and handhelds. The PS3 part, we believe, but the other two...

It's not that it can't be done. All they have to do is HD out of it, leaving just longer loading times for the inferior Wii and PS2 versions? Anyone can live with that as long as they can play a next-gen game on their old-gen system. So here's why Bioshock looks like it could make its way to Nintendo's Wii and Sony's PS3 and PS2, in Mike Hickey's opinion:

"We expect management could choose to raise capital now, leveraging a higher share price, investor enthusiasm over the GTA IV release, the franchise potential of Bioshock and their strong fiscal '08 guidance," said the Janco Partners analyst.

Naturally, a game such as BioShock is bound to see at least one handheld port and several cell-phone versions as well, but it's still a mystery how they see BioShock hitting the PS2 and Wii just like that, without providing any technical explanations as well. It's easy to predict that BioShock is going to hit handhelds, as a handheld version of Irrational's shooter, or any next-gen game for that matter, is definitely going to have some minuses.

However, a PS2 or Wii port of the game can't afford the same amount of lacking features. People expect the same thing with let's say poorer graphics and a slower frame rate and that's why a PS2 or a Wii port of the game seems highly unlikely. Unless of course, Take-Two is going to announce that the game will indeed launch for the Wii and PS2 as well, making everything I've just stated above, total bull.
