Colin Sebastian, the analyst who watches the video game industry for Baird Equity Research, has suggested that the recently launched Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 first person shooter will sell between 18 and 19 million units before the end of the four quarter of the year.
This means that the revenue generated for Activision Blizzard might reach between 1.1 and 1.2 billion dollars (846 to 867 million Euro).
Sebastian believes that the publisher needs this kind of performance from Modern Warfare 3 because of the current decline of the Blizzard made MMO World of Warcraft, which has gone down in recent months and is expected to reach a stable plateau just over the 10 million subscriber mark.
Sebastian's estimate of overall end of the year sales are the most optimistic yet for the new Call of Duty, with Michael Pachter estimating that it will only reach about 16 million units during the same time frame.
