An Amy Winehouse "Baby Vodka" Moment

Drug addiction is not in any way funny, however in Amy Winehouse's case we could say that there are some slightly ridiculous - and therefore also slightly hilarious - aspects about the singer's personality that could, in the appropriate set of circumstances, be seen as a reason to laugh. For just a little while, before getting depressed about the way in which one of the most talented jazz singers in the world is throwing her life and sanity away by ingesting massive amounts of deadly chemicals with no intention to stop or slow down. Under these specific circumstances, hearing Amy Winehouse complain that she is about to lose her looks because of her drug abuse might first come across as incredible, then as ridiculous, and finally, as slightly funny. Maybe just a tiny bit.

In what may be seen as a classic case of "the kettle calling the pot black", Wino was heard complaining to fellow guests at a party that drugs might cost her looks and hubby Blake's affection. For a little perspective, Wino's self-reprimanding speech was happening as the singer was reportedly snorting up lines of coke in the presence of a teenager aged just 17. "I've been told I'll lose my looks over this - but I can't give it up! I'm told my scars might never heal. My dermatologist says it's a result of the drugs and it could spread to other parts of my body if I don't quit. What will I do if I lose my looks? Blake will never love me like that," Wino reportedly whined. Hands up how many of you didn't snort, sneer, chuckle or otherwise rolled on the floor laughing when you read the last part.

Trouble is, there's a good chance Amy's currently incarcerated husband might have taken a better liking to the singer's fortune rather than her looks. Plus, Blaaaaaake is a hard-core drug user himself, and there's a dispute over the claim that he's ever actually seen his wife while fully awake and sober. And finally, the damage to Amy's looks is not just beginning, it's pretty much done. The frightening state of Wino's skin has been mostly put down to her drug abuse, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this will probably only get from bad to worse. The header photo depicting Amy shooting down vodka while holding some unlucky and unsuspecting baby is probably the best image of the singer's troubles we've seen in a while. That being said, all of us here hope the baby will be OK with only three years of therapy when he gets older to come with the sight of Wino's face so close to his.
