Island Records not happy with what the singer came up while on vacation

Amy Winehouse has ended her much-mediated and extended holiday in St Lucia and is now back in the UK, reportedly with the purpose of starting work on her third album, the follow-up to her successful 2006 “Back to Black.” To show that she did not spent all those months simply idling on the beach and drinking cocktails, Amy has also returned home with a brand new material for the album, but the problem is that her record label, Island, is not too happy with what she has come up with, The Sun says.

According to the British publication, Winehouse worked a lot while on vacation and the stuff she wrote is absolutely wonderful. The thing is that Island does not like it because it marks a too obvious move from her usual blues-y sound with which she conquered the world and rose to the top of all the international charts. Consequently, she must go back to the drawing board and come up with something better, it has been told.

“Amy was very productive during her stay in St Lucia. She wrote a hell of a lot of songs, but the majority of them just aren’t hitting the mark. She seems to have ditched her trademark vintage soul sound and is now heavily influenced by reggae. Her bosses don’t think it’s a wise move to change her style so sharply and have told her that.” an unnamed source points out for the aforementioned publication.

Moreover, it seems that Amy also allowed herself to be swept away in writing by the drama with her now-estranged husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, as well as by the serious drug addiction she’s been fighting for a while now. She went ahead and put all this into music and, from what the spy is sharing, it might prove too much for the public and even for her most loving fans. Such music would also be commercially unfeasible, it has been emphasized, which is yet another reason why Island Record is having the British star go back to work.

“The lyrics are very dark indeed. While she’s known for her confessional style and has been very successful with it, many of the tracks are near the knuckle. Everyone understands that Amy is an artist and she must be true to her instincts. In the past, she’s written frequently about broken hearts and boyfriends, but this time round she’s delving into harrowing terrain.” the spy explains, as quoted by The Sun.

In all fairness, speculation about Amy Winehouse’s third studio material has been making the rounds for more than a year now. This is precisely why music insiders are urging fans not to hold their breath until it is released, because it might be another while in the making.
