Amy Winehouse and hubby Blake are in the Caribbean - St. Lucia, to be more precise - and it sure looks like they're having a lot of fun at the beach. And by "fun" I mean they're neither yelling, nor chasing and not even trying to kill each other in broad daylight, although I shudder to think what goes on at night in their hotel room. But what really scares me - and half the planet actually - is Amy's unnaturally skinny body, covered with tattoos and looking as if a bunch of school kids just finished painting whatever (wherever) crossed their mind. And even though it looks like Amy is finally relaxing, I'm not so sure that the company she's in - namely, her drugged-out good-for-nothing husband Blake - is the best for actually doing some thinking about her life.
And while Amy shows us her skinny figure and makes us wonder how longs it's been since she's had a good meal (or, at the rate she's going, I'll settle for a sandwich at least), on a different island, slightly bigger than St. Lucia, war broke out between Amy's and Blake's families, fueled by Blake's parents doing an explosive interview with the BBC in which they actually asked fans to boycott Amy's record sales to make her see sense and get help. And while the whole thing sounds all noble and their intentions may be good, you know what they say about the road to Hell. That's right, that too is paved with good intentions. New facts are coming up to light that make us understand a bit more about the disastrous couple's relations - and make us wish Amy went to rehab. Alone this time.

Blake Fielder - Civil's mother and father (surprisingly, his dad's a headmaster and works with kids all day - who would have thought…) both publicly argued that the couple's problems are caused by all the attention they get - from the media, form Amy's label company and ultimately from all of us. I do however detect a slight misunderstanding here - and I could swear that Amy is in fact the one with the voice, the talent, the successful album, the prizes and the bank account, while Blake is just enjoying his free pass to...well, everything she's got. And looks like fame has managed to sweep Blake's parents off their feet and turn them into some sort of groupies that really really want Amy and Blake to be drug-free but stay together.

"Nobody's saying Blake's parents aren't worried sick, but you get the impression they are rather in awe of Amy's fame and are enjoying their own moment in the spotlight" says a friend of Amy's quoted by the Daily Mail. And looks like Blake's parents also failed to show up for several appointments with a psychologist, but managed instead to drag the couple out for beer the same evening. The same friend talks about how Blake had dumped Amy for another woman after a brief, tormented relationship but started calling her again after Amy's second album turned out to be such a hit. Blake, apparently, is a consummate heroin addict, whose drug habit is extremely expensive. "Blake thought all his ships had come in when he got back with Amy. He likes to joke that the first time he met her - in a pub called the Good Mixer in Camden - it was the first and last time he ever had to buy the drinks" comments Amy's friend. Well, that pretty much says it all.
There's not much to be said at the moment, except that right about now someone should step in and take attitude - the hard way. And put both Amy and her dear husband in rehab, take her checkbook away from him and possibly put him in a box and Fed-Ex him somewhere far, far away. Then the world will definitely be a better place.
