Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has successfully managed to kick her severe addiction to drugs and eventually get her life back on track. Part of her new life is also former husband Blake Fielder-Civil whom, as fans must remember, her parents often blamed for her addiction in the first place. They are now back together, are engaged, and have plans to remarry and start a family, Blake himself tells The Sun in a recent interview.

Blake too has been seeing to his addiction (also to drugs), having just completed rehab. Just recently, he and Amy have been rekindling their relationship that was broken off so abruptly when he was sentenced to jail and pressure from people on Amy’s entourage made it impossible for them to salvage their marriage, he is now saying for the British tabloid.

This time, though, they are serious about it, Blake promises, speaking of engagement and commitment to start a family. “This time we’re doing things properly and hopefully that will help both our families come round to the idea. We’ve both been through a lot but we love each other the same as ever. We’ve tried to get on with our lives and to see other people, but it wasn’t the same. There’s no one like Amy. She will always be the love of my life,” Blake reveals for The Sun.

The two already had a history with substance abuse when they met, a habit that only became worse when they married. In just a couple of months, they were barely recognizable and would often fight in public, even being snapped on a couple of occasions covered in blood from the injuries they would inflict on each other. When Fielder-Civil was sentenced to prison for perjury, Amy’s family convinced her that divorce was her best shot at getting clean – which actually proved to be the case later on.

“We’re free of drugs and we’re more responsible now. Coming off heroin was hell. I’ve been through a year of intensive rehab, I’m 100 per cent clean and I plan to stay clean. I’m not going to let anyone down. Amy said, ‘You inspire me.’ She’s proud of me for staying off drugs, and she’s determined to do the same,” Blake further explains.

A date for the wedding has not been made public, but Fielder-Civil says one is definitely in the cards for him and the singer. Winehouse, on her part, is yet to confirm the engagement.
