Wondering what the latest is on Mrs. Wino? Well, aren't we all? In fact, the troubled singer has been keeping us all wondering about many things lately - the most important one being: will she make it through the month alive? In an attempt to clean up their act, Winehouse and her equally (some say even more) drugged-out husband Blake were shipped out to the Carribean by Amy's record label.
The purpose of the all-expenses-covered holiday was to keep Amy away from the eyes of the media for once and allow her time to consider how best to escape her addiction and clear up her name, which has been linked to countless alcohol and drug binges over the past months. One friend of Amy's has confirmed what we have all suspected for a long time - namely that Amy's canceled tours, sloppy performances and the negative image she has gained in the media caused Universal/Republic to seriously consider severing ties with her.
"Amy's management have been driven to distraction, tearing their hair out over the past few weeks. One of the most incredible things about Amy's success is that she has enjoyed it on both sides of the Atlantic. Very few British artists can say that. Despite this, she is now within a hair's breadth of throwing it away. Americans are notoriously puritanical, especially when it comes to drugs. Although her UK reps have been trying to pacify their U.S. counterparts, basically it's clean up or clear out, and if she offends one more time she could be dropped within days", the friend stated.
The fact is, Mrs. Wino appears to have taken the false step already. The staff at Jade Mountain Resort in St. Lucia claims that her $1,400 a night hotel suite was in a terrible state and that the maids were "horrified" when they had to clean up the bathroom, which was covered in blood and vomit.
"It was sickening. They were horrified by the state of the room which looked like a bomb had hit it. The hotel management offered to send for a doctor but Amy declined. She said she'd be fine. Everyone was concerned because she looked so frail" said a source. Other reports state that Amy's room was searched by the police daily after fellow residents of the hotel complained of "strange smells" coming from the room. Also, one morning the couple showed up on the beach with fresh scars and needle marks, which can mean only one thing - they had probably indulged in another drug binge over the night.
In the meantime, life goes on and Amy will be back in Europe shortly to attend the Mercury Awards, for which her album "Back to Black" holds a nomination. After that, sources claim she will be seeking crisis talks with her record label. I do hope she manages to clean up her act, drop the drugs and continue to do what she does best, which is write and sing. But honestly, my hopes are running low too - and by the looks of it, so are everyone else's.
