Still fighting her drug addiction, singer Amy Winehouse has finally made one step towards getting full help from her family, by signing over the control of her estate to her parents. The British media is reporting that this is just the first sign that the troubled singer is on the path to recovery, especially since her husband Blake Fielder-Civil is also seeking to get half of her fortune.

The deal went through in St Lucia, where Amy has been living for a couple of months now in an attempt to kick the habit by starting a new life, away from temptation. Her father, Mitch Winehouse, came with the papers ready and she willingly agreed to sign them all, several media outlets are saying. While her estimated £15 million fortune is still hers, she will no longer be able to make financial calls without first consulting her parents, it is being said.

“Everyone is pleased because it means Amy is listening to good advice. It’s still her money and nobody else can touch it. But this stops her doing anything stupid. And it is evidence that Amy is really turning her life around.” an unnamed source has told the British papers. This comes right before the singer is reportedly about to receive a £10 million check for last year’s sale of her second album, “Back to Black,” released in 2006.

“Mitch convinced Amy she needs a safety valve for the money for her own good – to stop her doing anything rash or daft. She can be very impetuous and the family wanted to protect her. She cannot make a sudden decision. Her dad was also worried she might be tempted to go back to Blake – and put him in charge. That is now impossible. This would never have happened before, certainly not when she was with Blake.” another source has added for the papers.

As reported earlier, estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil is seeking to get half of Amy’s fortune by claiming that he was instrumental in her success as an artist, as a love letter she wrote to him seems to point out.
