A new piece of PC-over-IP (PCoIP) hardware has joined the existing range of PCoIP and VMware blade solutions, courtesy of Amulet Hotkey.

Amulet Hotkey has developed the DXM610X blade, what it calls the “first PCoIP workstation blade focused on providing the computing and graphics performance required by state of the art 3D design and CAD/CAM software.”

While compact, it is powered by dual Intel Xeon processors and an NVIDIA Quadro 4000 graphics controller.

Basically, it will deliver high-quality graphics over an IP network while preserving the security of the data center.

“Many of our clients are now embracing the significant advantages of workstation blade computing with improved levels of security, centralized control and server-grade management, offering clear savings in total cost of ownership,” says Viv Summerfield, CEO and founder of Amulet Hotkey.

“With the DXM610X we have created a unique capability that offers high-performance users in a variety of 3D modelling and design sectors the performance, security and flexibility they need for creative projects.”

Amulet Hotkey started promoting this type of PCoIP multi-monitor blade architecture back in 2009, when it launched the DXM600 quad-head workstation blade.

Nowadays, it is supposedly the only provider of PCoIP products based on a genuine tier-one platform, as well as one of the oldest UK-based Dell OEM Solutions Partners.

Anyone wishing to learn more about the company need only drop by the official website, located here.

As for people who just want to get a clear idea of what the new product can do, Amulet Hotkey prepared a short video in which it points out the primary advantages of the blade (remote access, low power requirements, no heat or noise, etc.).

Of course, system builders and administrators will have to figure out on their own if this DXM610X really is all it's cracked up to be.
