PCs and Macs don't always have the best wireless support, so Amped Wireless took it upon itself to create a pair of USB 2.0 adapters that could make up for it.

Nowadays, mostly every PC has support for wireless networks and such, but the range is not all that impressive, usually.

Amped Wireless tried to address that issue when it built the UA1000 High Power Wireless-N 500 mW Directional USB Adapter and the UA2000 High Power Wireless-N Directional Dual Band Adapter.

Long story short, they allow laptops, desktops and Macs to connect to 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi networks from up to three times greater distance than normal.

"At Amped Wireless, we believe that without range, Wi-Fi is of little use," stated Jason Owen, president and CEO at Amped Wireless.

"So we went above and beyond by integrating our high power technology, such as the advanced antennas and amplifiers in these new adapters, with innovative, useful and original design. The result is a pair of wireless adapters that delivers superior wireless range and performance so you can enjoy dependable Wi-Fi connectivity anywhere at any time."

The UA1000 - High Power Wireless-N 500 mW Directional USB Adapter has ten times the wireless output of standard adapters, via two high power 500 mW amplifiers and two low noise ones.

The product also boasts high gain 5dBi dual polarity (directional antenna that concentrates 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signals in a single direction for maximum range), N300 Wi-Fi technology and WPS one-touch setup.

The UA2000 - High Power Wireless-N Directional Dual Band USB Adapter has two high power 2.4 GHz 500 mW amplifiers and two high power 5.0 GHz ones, plus 5dBi dual polarity, N600 dual band Wi-Fi technology and WPS one-touch setup.

The UA1000 has a price of $79.99 / 61 Euro, while the UA2000 has a tag of $99.99 / 76 Euro. Pre-orders are already possible.
