14 DAY TRIAL // Police officers in the town of China in Kennebec County, US, were recently called to investigate a report of domestic violence. Much to their surprise, however, they found that the disturbance was caused not by a lovers' quarrel, but by an amorous male pig and its five mistresses.
Information shared with the public says that the domestic violence complaint was made by a woman who heard some really terrifying screams coming from one of her neighbor's home, and assumed that somebody was being assaulted.
The home from which the fight-like noises and scary screams were coming sits in a wooden area around Hanson Road, Mirror reports.
Believing that someone living in this house was in dire need of their help, four local police officers jumped in their car and headed to what they believed was the scene of a crime.
Much to their surprise, they found no evidence of domestic abuse. On the contrary, the home's owner was the one who answered the door, looking quite bemused to receive a visit from as many as four state troopers.
After learning why the police officers had shown up at her doorstep, the woman, who is in the business of raising pigs, explained that the noises and the screams heard by her neighbor were coming from a male pig.
More precisely, they were coming from a male pig that had been lucky enough to be put in the same pen with five sows, all of which were in heat.
Thus, it would appear that what the neighbor mistook for terrifying screams were merely the male pig's way of expressing its romantic feelings towards the sows and its joy at the thought of being able to share a pen with them.
“The homeowner stated her male pig was screaming because he was in a pen with five other female pigs in heat,” the officers ended up writing in their report, as cited by Mirror.
