The first-person horror adventure Among the Sleep has been officially announced for Sony's PlayStation 4 home entertainment system, and possibly even with Project Morpheus support.

The news regarding the horror game, which has players take on the role of a two-year-old boy wearing a onesie and exploring the scary world around him with the aid of his trusty companion, a wide-eyed teddy bear, has come from a post on the PlayStation Blog, where the dev offer a little more info on the upcoming title.

Among the Sleep initially started out as a humble student project but has quickly escalated into something of a much greater magnitude. The unique experience offered by the toddler horror project is a highly atmospheric one, focusing on exploration of the world through the eyes of a scared and vulnerable two-year-old trying to make sense of the world around him.

Instead of making a gory horror, the team focused on providing a unique and thrilling experience, doing away with gruesome enemies, high-speed chases and combat systems and attempting to deliver the story through the eyes of a small and frightened young boy.

Merging the wild and vivid imagination of a child with his skewed perception of reality makes for a very interesting way to tell a story about fear and confusion, which is pretty accurately depicted in the accompanying in-game footage trailer.

Developer Krillbite has mentioned that they are currently exploring Sony's brand-new virtual reality-enabling headset, Project Morpheus, in order to be used for Among the Sleep, but it has not been positively confirmed that the tech will be added to the game, at least not yet.

Among the Sleep was a pretty big hit on Kickstarter last year, managing to surpass its pretty substantial funding goal by a healthy margin, and it was also approved through Steam's Greenlight system.

Krillbite has put together a free demo for their Kickstarter campaign, which is still playable, available for everyone interested in the game to try it out. In addition to this, to keep up to date with the latest about Among the Sleep, you can head out to developer Krillbite's blog.

The game is being developed with Oculus Rift support, and, aside from the PlayStation 4, it is also coming to Windows PC, Mac and Linux. The initial release date was supposed to be around this spring, and the PS4 edition has no launch window for now.
