Microsoft has hyped up the possibility of cross-platform games between PC and Xbox One through the upcoming Windows 10 operating system, and at the same time, rumors behind an alleged appearance of Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC are once again surfacing.

Ever since Microsoft confirmed that the upcoming Windows 10 operating system would launch on PC, Xbox One, and its various mobile devices this year, rumors about cross-platform gameplay experiences have started floating around the web.

Microsoft has since enabled Xbox One owners to stream games from the console to a PC with Windows 10 installed. What's more, it's also confirmed an array of titles that are coming to both the PC and the Xbox One, from Gears of War Ultimate edition to Killer Instinct, Sea of Thieves, Fable Legends, and more.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection might soon appear on PC

Now, seeing the renewed interest in PC gaming, fans have begun asking Microsoft about bringing actual Xbox One games to the PC, starting with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. In response to such a statement, Microsoft Xbox Community Manager Larry Hryb confirms on Twitter that he's received the message.

As you can imagine, this has led to renewed rumors about a possible release of the shooter collection on PC.

Cross-platform experiences won't be forced by Microsoft

Meanwhile, on the Windows blog, Microsoft's Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, emphasizes that cross-platform games aren't forced onto developers. Instead, he mentions that Windows 10 brings to studios the option of making their titles cross-platform, and that they should make the decision, depending on their project.

"There are a lot of opportunities for cross-platform," Spencer says, "but I also think there are games that exist on a television, and there are games that exist with a keyboard and mouse on the PC. It’s not our job to dictate where games are developed or the kinds of games developers want to build. But giving developers the options, the opportunity, creating the widest canvas we can for creativity – what I’ve seen, in my time in the gaming space, is that that leads to the best games."

As such, while people should expect more cross-platform games for PC and Xbox One, not all of them can actually work. Expect to hear much more about the corporation's Windows 10 plans soon enough.
