Apple is said to be entering the mobile payments race with its new iPhone 6, and possibly even the rumored iWatch, but these are only rumors for now.

The company’s CEO hinted that Apple might be interested in becoming a payments processor at the company’s quarterly earnings conference on January 27. However, hinting and announcing are two very different things.

But it’s interesting that amid these rumors Apple has published a brief guide on how to set up an Apple ID, either from your iPhone or from a desktop computer.

“If you don’t already have an Apple ID, you can create one whenever you’re asked to sign in. Or just visit appleid.apple.com,” Apple says.

The company adds, “An Apple ID is your user name for everything you do with Apple, like using the iTunes Store, the App Store, iCloud, FaceTime, and much more.”

Soon enough, that description might end with “and everything else you buy out there.”
