Real life stupidity got him caught

I was just browsing the Internet in search of some material when I ended up on this guy's blog where I found a story about a Russian hacker. Then I went and read more on WJS' site. This guy was pretty smart while on the computer, but I'm sorry I cant say the same about real life. First, this Russian dude, by the name of Roman Voznyuk steals code from Alibre Incorporated (an American company), then he goes to Russia where the US law could not reach. That was a smart move for him, but what was downright stupid is him coming back to the States, four years after the plunder... need I say more? He has been arrested immediately and now he is facing accusation. He will be judged in Texas.

Paul Grayson, founder of Alibre, has declared for The Wall Street journal that the Russian culprit was a software developer working for them, until 2003 when he had been laid off. What he actually did was to steal source code for Alibre Design, which is a 3D solid modeling software for creating virtual prototypes of products. After the theft, the Russian decided to offer the software on the Internet, under a different name, "RaceCAD Design Professional" .

Alibre didn't lose any customers to Voznyuk, but Grayson took this story to the media in order to let everyone know about this incident, thus trying to prevent purchase of the cloned software. Things could have been worse, though.

The Russian was working in Canada, in Toronto to be more exact, so the United States' law still couldn't reach him there. One weekend he decided to go on a vacation... in the Niagara falls! That's when US authorities took advantage of him setting foot on US soil, and nabbed him immediately, as The Wall Street Journal tells us.
