Star does Allure, March 2010, to speak of how it was like to be called fat

It’s a little over a year that talk of “Jessica Simpson got fat” began, after she was photographed in a pair of very unflattering, high-waist jeans. Since then, some tabloids have had a field day either coming up with proof that, indeed, Simpson was “fat” or, on the contrary, that she was doing her best to become more toned. This is nothing but America’s way of obsessing in a very “disgusting” manner over weight, Simpson says for the latest issue of Allure magazine.

The truth is, Simpson is neither fat nor stick-thin like she was a few years ago, the March 2010 issue of the magazine sets out to show. Sure, she’s not as slender as when she was at the beginning of her career, but that’s only because, as she puts it, she realized that standardization and striving to attain the impossible did not equal beautiful. But she’s not fat either and Jessica would honestly love it if all this attention to her curves, lack or abundance thereof, would simply stop.

“When I walk through an airport and people go, ‘You’re not fat!’ I’m like, ‘Thanks. Thanks. That’s great. Good to know I’m not fat today. Thank you!’” Jessica Simpson says with a trace of resentment. The entire “Jessica Simpson is fat” thing had long gotten out of hand and, though it’s nice to see people who get to meet her in real life realize they were misled, it’s sad to think it could have been avoided, Simpson believes. “I would not wish on my worst enemy what I went through,” she says, referring to the whole “fat-gate” that got even President Obama putting his two cents in.

Moving on to another topic, Jessica says she never imagined her life would turn out like this. “I never really thought, growing up, what am I gonna be like when I’m 30? I just kind of thought I had it figured out: I’m going to be this great pop star, have my songs on the radio, be married, and have babies… But things can be taken away from you. A song can not be played on the radio. An album can not work,” she adds.
