Amelia Rose Earhart, an experienced pilot, traffic reporter in Denver, and a distant relative of the famous Amelia Earhart, is set to complete the latter’s final journey, Finance Yahoo! reports, citing the official press release.

Earhart will circumnavigate the globe next year, with the start date of her adventure being June 2014, in Oakland, California. She will be flying a Pilatus PC-12 NG single-engine aircraft.

“My passion for flight and adventure has driven me to explore new experiences I never would have imagined possible as a child,” Earhart says.

“Hard work, persistence and great role models have enabled me to fly outside the lines and achieve my dreams. Aviation plays an integral role in my life and I hope to share some of that joy with others through this adventure,” she adds.

The adventure is made possible through a partnership with Denver’s Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum and will include another pilot, to help Earhart complete over 100 hours of flight and 140 stops.

Amelia Earhart, the first aviatrix to fly solo over the Atlantic, disappeared in 1937 near Howland Island, during a circumnavigational flight.
