May-December romances aren’t rare, and despite talk that they are destined to fail, there are countless examples that they can work. Like everything else in life, this type of relationships too is uncertain. In the case of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, it seems that things won’t be working out after all.

The two reportedly became involved on the set of “The Rum Diary,” when he was still with longtime partner and mother of his children Vanessa Paradis, and she was in a relationship with another woman.

They went public much later and confirmed their engagement earlier this year, with reports online saying that the wedding would take place by the end of 2014. It turns out there won’t be a wedding right now.

No rush to marry

Sources close to the couple reveal for People magazine that all plans for the wedding have been put on hold indefinitely, even though Depp wanted to walk down the aisle as soon as possible. “There is no rush to marry at the moment,” one insider explains.

Depp didn’t just want to be married to Amber soon, he also wanted to start a family with her right after the wedding, as he admitted in a couple of interviews from earlier this year, when he confirmed the engagement.

He wasn’t always the type of guy in a rush to be married and his 14-year relationship with Paradis is proof of that: the institution of marriage meant nothing for him if there was serious commitment on both parts. Meeting Amber has made him have a significant change of heart.

Trouble in paradise

As much as Johnny is itching to get married, Amber is starting to second-guess the decision, the same insiders claim, adding that there is “definite turmoil” in the relationship. If you’re wondering why Amber is suddenly suffering from a serious case of cold feet, the answer lies in her age: she is 28 and she feels like she’d be trapped if she settled down right now.

On the other hand, Depp is 51 and has an entirely different set of priorities in life – with marriage and family among them, it would seem.

The gender gap between them, which made things in their relationship so exciting at first, is finally taking its toll on the romance, because it’s showing them that they’re at different stages in life, and as such, they want different things from it.

“Amber flirts and has many different kinds of relationships,” adds the spy. “She is not really ready to settle down.”

Could this be the end for Amber and Johnny?

Probably not, but postponing a wedding indefinitely because one partner doesn’t want to settle down is never a good sign.

There’s also a rumor making the rounds right now that Depp is drinking heavily again, which would explain his rambling on-stage speech at the Hollywood Film Awards 2014 a couple of weeks ago, when he appeared to be so intoxicated he could barely stand on his own and was slurring his words considerably.

Well, you can see the whole thing for yourself in the video below, and this way, get the correct idea of how “out of it” Johnny seemed.

Right after this, another rumor began to circulate, about how Amber wanted him in rehab because he was drinking too much and making a fool of himself in public, which reflected negatively on her.
