Police in California have been able to send out a message to all mobile phones warning them of a kidnapping.

Once an Amber Alert was declared, a new system allowed authorities to immediately relay the message to cellphones in the state, UPI described.

As I reported yesterday, the alert was declared when a San Diego man kidnapped two children after allegedly killing their mother and setting fire to his home, where she was staying.

Officials are still looking for James Lee DiMaggio, but the electronic alert system has helped them receive tips right away.

Someone has called in to let the police now that the vehicle they are looking for, a blue 2013 Nissan Versa, has been spotted traveling through Red Bluff.

As you can see in the alert screenshot above, it is registered in California with plate number 6WCU986.
