Amazaon.com announced that, at the begging of this year, it would integrate Roku Digital Video Player in its range of services, in order to offer users the possibility to view the movies or TV episodes they want to buy or rent, online, using the popular Amazon Video on Demand service.

Customers will be able to view and enjoy more than 40.000 commercial-free movies and TV shows, but what’s most important is that they will have access to new-release movies, which is a big plus for Roku Digital Video Player, which currently supports only the Netflix service.

This new tool is an easy-to-use movie player that will allow customers to access their virtual movie library that they bought via Amazon.com, view new releases the same as on DVDs, enjoy instant playback without having to download the videos, as well as enjoy Amazon Video On Demand's high-quality videos. They can also benefit from an option that can detect the bandwidth automatically to help them view the movies as if they were watching TV and search and enjoy the large Amazon.com collection of over 40.000 movies and TV shows.

The director of Amazon Video On Demand, Roy Price, said that, "With the subscription-free $99 Roku Player that connects to any TV, customers can now choose and watch their favorite new-release movie instantly and access all of their titles from their video library." He also stated that, "Amazon Video On Demand's large selection makes the Roku Player the perfect choice for hassle-free on demand movie and TV entertainment."

Anthony Wood, Roku CEO and founder, said that, "We are excited to add Amazon's massive catalog to our player including new-releases and top movie and TV titles." He also mentioned that, "This makes the Roku Player the ideal player for watching internet content directly on the TV."
