A brand new control scheme, powerful architecture to support improved graphical performance, fresh games from the oven and overall good value make Wii a rather appealing alternative in the console world. The substantial price difference sets it aside from Sony's PS3, virtually designating different market targets and assuring its success as a stand alone variation. Many still consider pre ordering an utter waste of time, yet, according to CD Freaks, Amazon.com completely sold out on all of the Wii preorders in a matter of hours! This skyrocketed Wii to the 6th position on the best selling Game Hardware list. The exact numbers being available for preorders are still unknown, yet it is certain Wii hype has grown to impressing proportions, in the wake of Nintendo's press conference. It all started on Friday September 15th and Amazon was forced to stop taking preorders due to overwhelming demand in just a few hours' time. The same appears to have happened to all distribution services that had pre-orders available but an online retailer the size of Amazon must have received an unprecedented amount of interest from customers in order to sell out this fast. One of the lucky fast shoppers left a comment on CD Freaks: "Amazon offered preorders with Wii Sports included for $249 today. With 1 day expedited shipping ran $283.83. No absurd bundle required. They began taking preorders this morning and had sold out of preorders by 11 am CST."
