14 DAY TRIAL // Amazon has made available three new firmware versions for three of its Kindle Fire devices. Specifically speaking, there are the 7.3.1, 8.3.1, 10.3.1 packages for the Kindle Fire HD 7", Kindle Fire HD 8.9", and the Kindle Fire (2nd Generation) tablets, respectively.
Although no official changelog has been provided, the new software files include various bug fixes and should improve the overall performance of these devices. Moreover, the firmware can be updated wirelessly, meaning that you have to wait for your turn, or manually if you are anxious about upgrading.
So, if you consider the quicker update method, copy the downloadable bin file onto the internal storage of the Kindle Fire through a USB cable, ensure that the transfer is successful, and afterwards safely disconnect the USB cable from the device.
Now, go to More --> Device --> About, and choose “Update Your Kindle” – at this point the update process is starting and your Kindle will restart. After the reboot, you should see a “Your Kindle is Updating” message displayed.
Once the update completes and the Kindle Fire restarted once more, your System Version should be able to read the latest version related to the device.
