If you’re the owner of Amazon’s flagship reader, the Kindle Paperwhite, you should know that the company has recently announced the roll-out a new software update for the device.

This is great news for those looking to tap into some nifty new features on their favorite reading device. The official Amazon changelog lists three main features, but of course other minor tweaks and improvements might be spotted too.

When you update your Kindle Paperwhite to the latest soft version v5.4.5, it will automatically sync your recently read pages across all devices and apps included in your Kindle account.

Take into consideration this is not up for debate and the update will do so whether you like it or not.

The update also adds a small pre-view window on the margin of the screen, when you’re in pan-and-zoom mode viewing a PDF file.

The best novelty you’ll probably notice if you perform the update is that Amazon is now offering an intelligent way of integrating ebooks samples with print purchases.

What that means is if you want to purchase a physical book (you can’t get over the comfort of reading a real book), Amazon will deliver a sample Kindle edition to your reading device, so you don’t have to wait for the package to be delivered to your door step. This way you’ll be able to get started on your reading when the craving to read comes to you.

Sure, this feature was previously available but now Amazon is making everything automated, so every time you purchase a book, voila, you’ll also be getting the digital copy along for the ride.

Note that the update will work for the second-gen Kindle Paperwhite eReader, and you should be able to install it automatically. However, if you prefer getting productive, you can always update the KPW manually by downloading and installing the file yourself.

It’s quite nice to see Amazon updating its popular eReader especially since the new build brings not only stability enhancements and the like, but also some new features.

Since we’re on the topic of the Kindle Paperwhite, we’re taking the opportunity to remind you that word on the street has it Amazon’s third-generation Paperwhite will come boasting a new screen technology.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the new eReader will have a built-in flexible display that takes advantage of Mobius technology.

This aspect might boost the appeal of the upcoming product since the only device taking advantage of Mobius tech is the huge and ridiculously over-priced 13.3-inch Sony eReader.
