Today, Amazon has announced the availability of a new firmware package targeted at its Kindle Touch eReader, namely version 5.3.7.1, which includes various bug fixes and provides improved performance compared to previous releases.

If you intend to apply this software update, first check the device’s currently installed firmware to determine which update should be installed first. To do so, go to Home → Menu → Settings → Menu → Device Info, and from there you can read the build number.

Now, if the Kindle Touch displays one of the 5.3.2, 5.3.2.1, or 5.3.7 versions, the present release can be safely applied. On the other hand, if the device shows one of the 5.1.0, 5.1.1, or 5.1.2 builds, then you must first apply Amazon Kindle Touch Firmware 5.3.2.1, and only afterwards the 5.3.7.1 update.

Moreover, if in the Kindle device information section you see a version that is prior to the 5.1.0 release, then you should first update to Amazon Kindle Touch Firmware 5.1.0, then apply the 5.3.2.1 build, and only afterwards consider installing the present software update.

Bear in mind that if you try to install the wrong file considering the currently installed firmware, the update process can fail to complete, which might cause serious malfunctions to the Kindle Touch device.

With this in mind, if you have prepared your device for this update, download Amazon Kindle Touch Firmware 5.3.7.1, apply it on your eReader, and check our website as often as possible in order to stay up to date with the latest releases.
