Amazon seems to be playing its role as indirect provider of information on upcoming devices, but it looks like the online store has now become the subject of a report itself, regarding tablet plans.

Those that would think Amazon doesn't really have plans to make a name on the IT market beyond the Kindle e-reader would be wrong to assume such.

A recent report that said the store wants to start making its own tablet device, or devices, should have already made this clear by now.

Still, even though Amazon's intentions were already exposed, this doesn't mean any more information existed at the time.

A suggested price was hinted at ($399), as was the name (Hollywood) but nothing else was said, except for how it should support its maker's movie service, at least for a time.

Now, Digitimes claims to have unearthed some information, sparse though it is, about when one can expect to see it on sale, among other things.

One of those other things is that Quanta Computer will handle the assembly, while ILI Technology and Wintek will provide the LCD driver ICs and the touch panels, respectively.

The launch should take place during August or September in the US, with monthly shipments expected at 700,000 to 800,000 units.

In other words, Amazon wants to enter the tablet front in force, with the target number of globals sales being of about four million for 2011.

The processors used in the making of the products will come from Texas Instruments and the main thing that the successful achievement of the shipment target rely on is the year-end holiday season.

In the meantime, users that want a tablet but don't want to wait so long can take a look at the (released or unreleased) Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1, the HP TouchPad (document editing or no) and other such electronics from Lenovo, Sony, etc.
