We reported over the weekend that Amazon was expected to announce its first smartphone by June and that it would put it on sale sometime in September, and now the first images showing the device confirm that the Amazon handset is close to being unveiled.

The folks over at BGR have just published the first live pictures of the Amazon smartphone, along with some details about its specs.

According to them, this would be the first of two Amazon smartphones that will be launched this year. The first one will be aimed at the high-tier market and will pack no less than six cameras.

There will be a main 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a secondary one in the front for video calls, while the other four will be low-powered infrared cameras that will be able to track the position of the user’s face and eyes that will help with the 3D perspective that the display will offer.

Amazon’s smartphone will offer a 3D experience without having to wear 3D glasses. The four extra cameras included will make sure the software has the necessary information required for the best 3D experience on an LCD panel.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is said to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, possibly quad-core, and 2GB of RAM. It will also come with a 4.7-inch HD (720p) display and will run Android OS with Amazon Appstore.
